Athiests Sue Over Presidential Oath

An athiest lawyer is appealing the dismissal of his lawsuit over the inclusion "so help me god" as part of the presidential oath. Chief Justice Roberts administered the oath, and included the phrase at President Obama’s desire. The U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia dismissed the suit, holding that the plaintiffs lacked standing, and also held they did not have the authority to tell the Chief Justice Robert what to do.

The lawyer claims that including such a phrase is stigmatizing to athiests, and alleged athiests are considered second class citizens in the United States.
