The defendant had a pending DWI case in front of Judge Donald Jackson. Jackson was accused of offering the defendant a better court appointed lawyer if she engaged in a romantic relationship with Jackson that would be more than a one night stand. The prosecution had a tape recording of Jackson initially denying a meeting with the defendant at a coffee shop, but then later admitting he did.

The prosecution was pleased with the sentence, noting the most important part was "“the judge finding it was in the interest of justice that he be removed from the bench without pay.”
