Toyota hearing to begin in Washington

A hearing to examine the United States government’s response to repeated complaints about sudden unintended acceleration in Toyota vehicles will begin in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday.

The House energy and commerce subcommittee’s investigation is the first congressional hearing into the Japanese automaker’s problems.

On Tuesday, Japanese politicians urged Toyota executives to use the opportunity to assuage fears that Toyota vehicles are unsafe.
