The Senate Homeland Security and Homeland Affairs Committee has subpoena the Obama administration for documents related to last years Fort Hood shooting. The shooting occurred last year at an army base, when an army psychiatrist shot and killed thirteen people. The committee alleges the government is withholding documents that could establish the government could have prevented the shooting.
The Defense department argues that releasing the documents would compromise their prosecution of Major Hasan. Allegedly, an internal review by the Department of Defense has revealed medical officers did not properly evaluate Hasan. The Secretary of Defense has said he has every intention of cooperating, so as long as it does not impede the prosecution’s case.
