Senate Intelligence Committee Says US Security System Flawed

The Senate Intelligence Committee reports the US national security system is suffering from systematic failures. Specifically, the committee issued a report saying problems that were first indicated from the 9/11 attack are still present.

The report says the National Counterterrorism Center (NCTC), which is the only agency that can access all intelligence and law enforcement information, shoulders most of the blame. The report notes that NCTC was not organized to be the sole agency in charge. Broadly speaking, the committee indicated the failed Christmas day attack was because of a failure to collect data, but a failure to properly analyze it.
