Hooked on Video Games? Judge Allows Suit Against Game Maker to Proceed

A federal judge is allowing a negligence lawsuit against a video game maker to proceed. The negligence claim centers around the game maker’s failure to properly warn potential players of the addictive nature of the game.

The Plaintiff alleges that NCsoft, which makes Lineage II, should have warned players about the game and the consequences of playing it. In particular, the Plaintiff alleges he would not have played the game if he had been made aware he could become addicted to it. He alleges he played the game for 20,000 hours during a five year span.
