No Criminal Charges For School That Spied on Students

Federal investigators have indicated they will not file any criminal charges against a Pennsylvania school district that admitted to spying on students through their laptops. The school had admitted to taking pictures of students outside of school through the use of laptop cameras.

Federal investigators declined to file any criminal charges because of an apparent lack of criminal intent involving the school. This decision, however, has no effect on the ongoing class action suit against the school district. The class action alleges invasion of privacy and wiretapping. The school has also made changes to their privacy policies as a result of the incident.
