Gatineau man who strangled 2 women gets life term

A man in Gatineau, Que., has been sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole for 15 years for strangling two women in 2008.

Patrick Lalonde, 35, received his sentence Wednesday in a Gatineau courtroom after pleading guilty to two counts of second-degree murder in the deaths of Johan Ayotte, 53, and Diane Johanette, 64.

Both women were strangled within hours of each other in their apartments. Their bodies were found on July 23 and July 24 in 2008.
