President Obama has weighed in on a Florida pastor’s decision to burn copies of the Koran on September 11. Noting that the pastor is acting on his beliefs, the President said “I hope he listens to those better angels and understands that this is a destructive act that he’s engaging in.”
Both the President and other leaders have implored the pastor to not go ahead with the plan, warning that burning the Koran may incite acts of violence against American troops and American citizens. The pastor has indicated he is still praying over his plan.
