State Secrets? Obama Invokes Privilege to End Lawsuit

The White House has invoke the state secrets privilege in an attempt to end a lawsuit brought on behalf of an alleged terrorism suspect. The suspect is believed to be targeted for capture or death under a clandestine military program. Notably, the suspect was born in the US and is believed to be a US citizen.

The Department of Justice is arguing this matter can be handled by the executive branch and the courts do not need to get involved. On the other side, the lawsuit contends that courts should absolutely be involved when a government targets one of its citizens for death.
