The net spreads as U.S. prosecutors arrest more expert network consultants

They worked at technology giants such as Dell Inc., Advanced Micro Devices Inc. and Flextronics International Ltd. Their jobs gave them access to confidential information about their own companies and some of the hottest consumer products on the planet. Sometimes they talked on cellphones and worried about being recorded.

It turned out someone was, in fact, listening. In a dramatic escalation of a large investigation into illegal insider trading, U.S. authorities said Thursday that they had arrested and charged four more people and announced that a fifth person had pleaded guilty in the scheme.
