They were wearing bulletproof vests, drove up in a car with a red flashing lights, and had a siren to boot.
But instead of executing a bogus search warrant, Durham police say three men posing as cops entered an Ajax home early Tuesday, handcuffed six people inside, and ransacked the home in search of money.
“As they approached the house, the residents inside saw the red flashing lights,” said Dave Selby, with Durham Police. “I would not call them replica police uniforms, but at 12:30 at night, these people believed they were police.”
