911 caller shot after trying to run down police

A man who called 911 and then tried to run down the Montreal officers who responded is in hospital after being shot by police, officials say.

Provincial police investigators closed down a large perimeter around the scene Wednesday after the incident near Decarie Boulevard and Jean-Talon Street in Montreal’s Côte-des-Neiges–Notre-Dame-de-Grâce borough.

At around 1 a.m. a man in his 40s called 911 from his car, and when officers arrived on the scene the man tried several times to run them down, police said.
