Oshawa hospital charity fires boss, calls in the cops

One of Ontario’s big hospital charities has fired its chief executive officer and called in the police after forensic accountants turned up serious money and charity management problems.

A Toronto Star investigation of the Oshawa Hospital Foundation and its boss, Jim Szeman, prompted the probe by accounting firm KPMG.

Szeman was making side deals that benefited him without telling the board, KPMG found.
