A nine-year-old boy has been shot and killed on the Sagkeeng First Nation, northeast of Winnipeg.
Chief Donavan Fontaine told CBC News the RCMP broke the news to him. He wasn’t on the reserve at the time but is on his way there now.
According to several people in Sagkeeng, the boy was playing with a gun at his home Thursday evening when it fired.
Band Coun. Derrick Henderson said the boy died shortly after he was struck by the bullet.
