Manitoba judge sex inquiry begins hearing testimony

A Canadian Judicial Council inquiry has begun hearing from witnesses in the case of a Manitoba judge at the centre of a sex controversy.

Associate Chief Justice Lori Douglas of the Manitoba Court of Queen’s Bench became embroiled in scandal after it was revealed that her husband, Winnipeg lawyer Jack King, posted sexually explicit photographs of her online and offered her as a sex partner to one of his clients in 2003.

The client, Alex Chapman, went public seven years later with allegationsthat he had been sexually harassed by King and Douglas, who were both lawyers and partners at a Winnipeg firm at the time.
