If there is one thing to take away from this story, it’s that strippers are not the way to liven up a teenaged birthday party. An attempt by one upstate New York mother to make her son’s 16th birthday party one to remember backfired after other parents reported her to the police.
Judy Viger, 33, hired the strippers for her under-aged son’s bowling alley birthday party. According to Saratoga County officials, boys as young as 13 were in attendance as two strippers gave lap dances and performed “personal and intimate” routines. Parents of some of the kids in attendance found out about the strippers via photos posted to Facebook.
The concerned parents of five of the boys brought the photos to the police. As a result, Viger has been charged with five counts of endangering the welfare of a child. District Attorney James Murphy stated that “exposing the unsuspecting children to this sort of ‘entertainment’ goes beyond the pale when it comes to what is appropriate for a 14, 15 and 16 year old child.”
The photos distributed by the District Attorney’s office show the party attendees in compromising positions with the strippers. One photo shows a nearly nude dancer on top of one of the boys with her legs wrapped around his head.
The entertainment agency that employs the strippers, Tops in Bottoms, has yet to release an official statement. However, a man who answered the phone at the company told reporters that the incident was “blown out of proportion” and that it was “unfortunate and sad.” The company has said it was unaware the party-goers were underage.
